If you are a true football fan of the league and not just your team, you will listen to every game. I listen to the games over the internet. Here are the list of links to the various radio stations who cary the broadcasts of the Canadian Football League.
History of the grey cup
The Grey cup is finally 100 years old. What started in 1909 is finally 100 in 2012. Read the History page to find out why. Yes Canadians do know how to count. Although for anyone who attended the game on November 29, 2009, Saskachewan obviously didn't. Because of a "too many men on the field" penalty, which caused montreal to be able to move 5 yards closer to kick the game winning field goal. What a day, I soon won't for get it as I was in Calgary on that day sitting in the end zone.
How do you attend games in the cold?
There are ways of attending a football game to prevent you from freezing. First of all Before you leave for the game you need many layers of clothing. Put on these layers just before the game. If you are going to lunch first, do this in a washroom. This prevents you from overheating while you are enjoying the local cuisine at a restaurant. two layers of pants, shirts and especially socks. Put a sweater over all and your winter parka is the last to go on. I recommend thin socks next to your skin with a thick pair of wool socks over top. That way if your feet do sweat, the wool pulls the moisture away and keeps it from your feet.
Bring a blanket to sit on. Even though you have wind pants on, getting your but off the seat and sitting on a blanket or a pillow will keep you warm. Get your feet off the cold ground. One way to do this is a sleeping bag or just really good boots that are rated for about minus 40. What people seem to forget is that it is 20 below and you are out there for about four hours and your running shoes are not going to cut it. Covering your face is normally not necessary. If you are wharing a winter jacket with a hood, that should protect your face and you can look like all of the sited people who need to see the field in front of you.
If you are bringing a radio to the game there are tricks so that you don't have to kill the battery in the cold. First have a small set of gloves in your large pair of gauntlet type mits. No, you will not be able to do fine dexterity work, however, your mit will be big enough to hold your small radio with your earphone jack running up your sleeve acting as an antenna. you can also control the radio in comfort with out having to remove the mits. The headphones should be the big bulky ones. You cannot hear the call of the game if the crowd is cheering and you are whereing ear buds. Noise cancellation headphones are wonderful, but if your cheap like me the big bulky ones are under your tuque and hood anyway. No one can see them until you dismantle your set up. Unfortunately, talking to people in your party is impossible. I always tell people to entertain themselves and I will see them at half time. Make sure you can record the game in your hotel room as the delay since TSN radio got the cup is awful in the stadium.
